Responsible Gaming at True North Drawson

Trail Tokens are for fun, not fortune — here is how we help you keep every session light, balanced, and firmly on the scenic route.

A balanced scale crafted from tree branches, symbolising balanced play

Entertainment Only — Nothing More, Nothing Less

True North Drawson is a free social casino built by True North Drawson Inc. in Toronto, and we want to be as clear as the air over a mountain lake: everything here is entertainment. Trail Tokens, our virtual currency, have no cash value. They cannot be bought back, cashed out, exchanged, traded, or converted into real money or anything with real-world worth. When Wilfred the goose honks in celebration, he is celebrating a fun moment — not a payout, because there are no payouts here and never will be.

That distinction matters. Because there is no money on the line, playing at our lodge should feel like a board game night by the fire: something you pick up when you feel like it, enjoy for a while, and set down without a second thought. If your play ever starts to feel like more than that — like a chase, an obligation, or an escape — this page is here to help you notice it early and steer back onto the trail.

Healthy Play Habits

Healthy play is not about strict rules or self-denial. It is about keeping our games in their proper place — one small, pleasant corner of a full life. Seasoned hikers pack light, check the weather, and know their route before they set out. We suggest the same approach to your sessions at the lodge.

What balanced play looks like

You play when you genuinely feel like playing, not out of boredom, stress, or habit. You stop when a session stops being fun, without needing a reason. You never rearrange sleep, meals, work, school, or time with people you care about around our games. You can go days or weeks without playing and not think about it. Losses of Trail Tokens make you shrug, not sting — because tokens are just points on a scoreboard.

Signs worth noticing

Everyone drifts occasionally, and drifting is not failure — it is information. Pay attention if you find yourself playing longer than you intended on most sessions, feeling restless or irritable when you cannot play, hiding how much time you spend at the lodge, or logging in first thing in the morning and last thing at night. None of these alone means trouble, but each is a gentle nudge to check your bearings. The tools and resources further down this page can help you do exactly that.

Time Management

Time is the only thing you truly spend at True North Drawson, so it deserves the most care. Sessions can slip by quickly when the reels are spinning and the lodge fire is crackling, and that is by design of games in general — they are made to be absorbing. A few simple habits keep the clock on your side.

Set a session length before you start

Decide how long you want to play before you open the first game, not during. Twenty or thirty minutes is plenty for a relaxed session. Set an alarm on your phone or ask a smart speaker to remind you. When the alarm sounds, finish the spin you are on and close the tab. The games will be here tomorrow, exactly where you left them.

Anchor play to real life, not the other way around

Play after your day's responsibilities are done, not instead of them. Treat a session like a coffee break: a reward with a natural end, not an open-ended activity. Avoid playing in bed — late-night sessions are the ones that most often run long, and they trade tomorrow's energy for tonight's spins.

Notice "just one more"

The phrase "just one more spin" is the most common way a planned session doubles in length. When you catch yourself thinking it, take it as your signal that the session is already over. Wilfred would tell you the same thing: a goose that knows when to head south has a much better winter.

Spending Awareness

True North Drawson is free to play, and it will always be possible to enjoy every game without spending anything at all. Some players choose optional membership perks or cosmetic extras to support the lodge, and that is entirely their choice — but any spending here is a purchase of entertainment, never an investment. Nothing you buy can ever be converted back into real value, and no purchase improves your odds or "earns" anything in return.

If you do choose to spend

Treat optional purchases the way you would treat a movie ticket or a magazine subscription: a fixed, planned entertainment cost that fits comfortably inside your normal budget. Decide on a monthly limit before you ever reach a checkout screen, and never adjust it upward mid-month. Money set aside for essentials — rent, groceries, bills, savings — should never come anywhere near an entertainment purchase.

Red flags around spending

Buying extras to "make up for" a run of unlucky spins, spending more after a frustrating session, hiding purchases from a partner or family member, or feeling regret shortly after a purchase are all signs that spending has drifted from entertainment into something heavier. If any of these sound familiar, pause all optional purchases and consider reaching out to us or to one of the support organisations listed below. We would far rather you play free forever than spend a single dollar you are uneasy about — and remember, the free experience is the full experience.

Self-Control

Self-control is a skill, not a character trait — and like any skill, it grows with practice and shrinks under pressure. The moments when self-control is hardest are predictable: when you are tired, stressed, upset, lonely, or have been drinking. Those are exactly the moments to leave the lodge closed.

Practical guardrails

Make the decision once, in advance, rather than a hundred times in the moment. Choose your session length and your spending limit (if any) while you are calm and clear-headed, write them down, and treat them as settled. Keep the lodge off your phone's home screen if quick access tempts you. Log out fully at the end of each session so that returning requires a deliberate choice rather than an idle tap.

Never play to change how you feel

Games are wonderful at adding fun to a good day and terrible at fixing a bad one. If you notice you are opening True North Drawson to escape anxiety, sadness, boredom, or conflict, the game cannot give you what you are looking for — and the session is likely to leave you feeling worse, not better. A walk, a phone call to a friend, or simply naming the feeling out loud will serve you far better than any spin.

Ask us for help with limits

If you would like your account paused for a while — a week, a month, a season, or permanently — write to us at support@truenorthdrawson.com and we will set it up promptly, no questions asked and no persuasion attempted. Taking a break is always respected here.

Digital Wellbeing

Play at True North Drawson does not happen in a vacuum — it happens on the same screens where you work, scroll, message, and unwind. Healthy play is easier when your overall relationship with screens is healthy too.

Screen time in context

Most devices now include built-in wellbeing dashboards: Screen Time on Apple devices and Digital Wellbeing on Android. Check yours once a week. If total screen time is creeping up, our lodge should be one of the first things trimmed, not the last — real trails, real people, and real rest come first.

Protect your sleep

Bright screens late at night delay sleep, and lost sleep erodes exactly the self-awareness that healthy play depends on. We suggest a simple rule: no lodge visits within an hour of bedtime. Your morning self will thank your evening self.

Take your eyes off the reels

During longer sessions, follow the 20-20-20 habit that optometrists recommend for any screen use: every twenty minutes, look at something about twenty feet (six metres) away for twenty seconds. Stand, stretch, refill your water. Wilfred takes off and stretches his wings regularly, and so should you.

User Protection

Playing at the lodge should feel as safe as it feels cosy. Here is what we do on our side, and what you can do on yours.

What we do

We verify that all players are adults before granting access to games. We never sell your personal information, and we collect only what is needed to run the lodge — the details are set out plainly in our Privacy Policy. Our games use certified random number generation so that outcomes are genuinely unpredictable, with no hidden hooks designed to manufacture "near misses." We do not send pressure notifications urging you to come back, and we honour every break and closure request without delay or persuasion. Account pauses and closures requested through support are actioned promptly.

What you can do

Use a strong, unique password for your account and never share it with anyone, including people claiming to be our staff — genuine True North Drawson support will never ask for your password. Log out on shared or public devices. If you ever receive a message claiming you have "won money" from us, it is a scam: we never award money, and we never contact players about winnings, because there are none. Report anything suspicious to support@truenorthdrawson.com and we will investigate.

Community Standards

Our lodge has one house rule that covers all the others: treat fellow travellers the way you would treat someone sharing your campfire. Wherever players interact — in feedback, community features, or correspondence with our team — we expect warmth, patience, and respect.

What we welcome

Friendly conversation, helpful tips for newer players, honest feedback about the games, and good-natured celebration of lucky streaks (in Trail Tokens, naturally). The best communities are built by players who remember there is a person on the other side of every screen name.

What we do not allow

Harassment, hate speech, bullying, or discrimination of any kind. Sharing another player's personal information. Encouraging anyone to spend beyond their comfort, chase losses, or treat our games as anything other than entertainment. Attempting to buy, sell, or trade accounts or Trail Tokens — tokens have no value and no marketplace, and any offer to trade them is a scam. Breaches of these standards can lead to warnings, suspensions, or permanent removal from the lodge, as described in our Terms of Service. If someone's behaviour makes your experience worse, tell us — we take every report seriously.

Age Restriction — 18+ Only

True North Drawson is strictly for adults aged eighteen and over. Even though no real money is involved, our games use casino-style mechanics — reels, chance, streaks — and research is clear that exposure to those mechanics can shape how young people think about gambling later in life. That is a risk we refuse to take.

We ask every player to confirm their age before entering the lodge, and we close any account we discover belongs to a minor. If you believe someone under eighteen is using our platform, please tell us immediately at support@truenorthdrawson.com — your report will be handled confidentially, and we will act on it quickly.

Family Awareness

If children or teenagers share your home — or your devices — a few simple precautions keep the lodge firmly adults-only.

Secure your devices

Use separate user profiles on shared computers and tablets, each protected by its own password or PIN. Log out of True North Drawson completely after every session rather than staying signed in. Never save your lodge password in a browser profile that a young person can access.

Use the parental tools you already have

Every major platform offers free parental controls that can restrict access to specific websites: Screen Time on iOS and macOS, Family Link on Android and ChromeOS, Family Safety on Windows and Xbox. Dedicated filtering tools such as those recommended by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection can add another layer. Ten minutes of setup provides lasting peace of mind.

Talk about it

Filters help, but conversation matters more. If a teenager sees you playing, it is worth explaining plainly what a social casino is, why the tokens are worthless by design, and why the games are for adults. Openness beats mystery — games that are hidden become games that are fascinating.

Taking Breaks

Every good trail has rest stops, and every healthy player takes them. Breaks are not a punishment or an admission that anything is wrong — they are ordinary maintenance, like waxing skis or airing out a sleeping bag.

Small breaks, every session

Stand up between games. Look out a window. Make tea. A two-minute pause resets your attention and makes it much easier to notice when a session has naturally run its course.

Longer breaks, whenever you like

Skipping the lodge for a week or a month now and then is one of the best habits a player can have. If the break feels easy, wonderful — that is exactly how entertainment should feel. If the break feels difficult, that difficulty is valuable information, and the resources in the next section can help you make sense of it.

Account pauses and self-exclusion

If you would like help staying away, email support@truenorthdrawson.com and ask for a pause of any length — one week, one month, six months, or a permanent closure. We will confirm it in writing, we will not send you reminders or win-back offers during the pause, and we will never make you justify the request. Your account, your call, always.
